It was wonderful to welcome Jim Geikie back into “Advertising in the Age of Alexa” last week. He’s always a big hit, as he strikes an instant rapport with the students who’re keen to know everything he’s learned from his stellar consumer packaged goods career.
Today, Jim’s a Partner at One Better Ventures, the Raleigh VC’s who’re quite literally “in the business of making a difference” as they advise, invest in, and incubate mission-driven ventures with breakthrough business models. Their track record includes building both Burt’s Bees and Seventh Generation, and leading them to successful exits. Now they’re working with innovative ventures like Gaia Herbs, Leesa Sleep, and Filter Easy, as aligned, principled, and patient investors, as well as operating partners.
And, as he announced in class, Jim’s now added President & CEO of Gaia Herbs to his remarkable résumé.
Since 1987, Gaia Herbs has nurtured the connection between people and plants in its mission to deliver Nature’s vitality in helping to create healing. It all begins at Gaia Farm, nestled in the Pisgah Forest region of the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, one of the most biodiverse regions in all of North America. Notably, Gaia holds itself to the highest standards of social and environmental impact, transparency, and accountability; all in the natural course of maintaining the purity, potency, and integrity of their herbs and ingredients, from “seed-to-shelf”!
